Recapping First Sunday
In July we had the launch of Indlu Yesibane by Chulumanco Makuluma and the opening of Third Space, a postcard exhibition curated by Odette Graskie. The dual events was held at Pulp Studio (Studio 8G1) at Victoria Yards during the always vibey First Sundays. Guests took a look at the creative postcard designs by 37 artists across the globe, and came to hear about the incredible photo book by Chulumanco Makuluma.
Third Space is an exhibition curated by Odette Graskie celebrating those spaces we make in our cities – those wonderful in-between spaces where we can play, create and exist together. Bringing together postcards from 37 artists, this exhibition shows the creative response to the idea of those places between home and work where we can create community in all forms.
‘Indlu Yesibane is a photo book about celebration and tradition and it’s also an ode to family and growing up. For years I’ve been going to the Eastern Cape to visit family and from the years 2022 – 2023 I documented my family during this period. The book is a product of this documentation and are moments I would like to share.’
