Collaboration is central to everything we do, and some of our very important collaborators are the women of the Richmond Bookbinding Project based in Richmond, Northern Cape. The Richmond Bookbinding Project makes use of found flour, potato, sugar and cement bags to create the covers for their notebooks. The result, a deeply South African, and beautiful collection of local, recycled stationery.
Richmond’s bookbinders have recently begun experimenting with lino block prints, and their artworks have become the material for a new range of recycled notebooks. Look out for the distinctive Karoo images such windmills, sheep, and the blazing Karoo sun.
