Meet Griffin
MEET NEW PULP STAFF
Our team has grown so much, and we would love to tell you a bit more about our newest team members! In our newsletters, we will be featuring a staff member, to introduce you to one of them and give some updates on what they are working on.
We would like to introduce you to Griffen Alexander, one of our newest Bookbinders. Griffen started at Pulp during our internship at the end of 2023. He studied Fine Arts at Wits, followed by a Honours in Creative Writing. Griffen’s writing is a mixture of everyday life absurdism, sci-fi and dystopian fiction. You can read some of his writing at http://www.griffenwrites.com. Griffen has also been working on a new studio space with other artists, called HOST (at @house_of_specialthings on Instagram). They are a collective of artists and writers looking to cultivate a space that supports creatives in a sustainable, harmonious way. It is an ever-unfolding endeavour open to change and growth, but some recent events that they have hosted includes figure drawing classes, and workshops during First Thursdays at Keyes Art Mile. More classes and openings are in the pipeline!
For his internship, Griffen was given the opportunity to create a publication of his own, and Griffen decided to make a gorgeous book with his sci-fi short story Mother Microbial. We are so amazed by the beautiful bookish object that Griffen wrote, designed and executed in the Pulp studio.
Patterns crystallise on the surface of everyday life. They condense and disassociate.
